Thank you, @Daniel Clarke-Serret for taking my thesis about the centrality of conservatives in creating the democratic social contract- and running with it.
As Daniel makes it eminently clear, Rousseau, Locke and Rawls notwithstanding, there are no such things as ‘natural’ rights where humans emerged from the womb as equal and free. For one thing the newly born human is vulnerable, weak and exceptionally unfree. For another, the natural world is a jungle where the big beasts rule and the weak are at best serfs or at worst, lunch.
When (as in liberal democracies) the weak are bestowed rights and freedoms we have to be grateful for it. If we stare too hard into the mouth of the gift horse, it might bite our heads off.
It was a pleasure to expand on your valuable insight. Through understanding the true nature of the social contract, we can learn to both preserve social stability and maintain our rights.

Readers will particularly appreciate his situating this in the British context, where centuries of hard-won minority rights are now threatened by an aggressive minority that sees no reason to either integrate- or (conveniently) ghettoize. As I say in my essay: https://open.substack.com/pub/villageidiotstudio/p/why-i-dont-attack-conservatives-or?r=2pal6b&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false conservatives really don’t need a liberal democracy that gives equal rights and protection to minorities- that they do so is an extraordinary gift to them.

Never was it as urgent, we cannot allow ourselves to reach the point of no return.

Great analysis.
Thanks for your support!
This benighted dude featured below pretends to be a social conservative.

As do all the (mostly) dudes who attended this toxic gabfest, including their patron "saint" the Orange Jesus.
As do all the (mostly) dudes who belong to the outfit, the toxic behind the scenes machinations of which are described in two recent books.

STENCH by David Brock
The outfit was founded by a full-blown sociopath. It could be said that the said cult is deeply sociopathic too.
I wonder what Jesus would have to say about this deeply misogynist power-and-control-seeking CULT!
