A beautiful, well-written and sad piece, Daniel! Please everyone who can become a founding subscriber to Guerre and Shalom and I call on a wealthy subscriber to pay Daniel a salary! This is now his one and only source of income and he needs us now more than ever! Guerre and Shalom brings us quality articles that thoughtfully discuss a broad range of topics you would find anywhere in the mainstream media! Daniel is a brilliant and original thinker. He doesn’t just repeat talking points, he introduces us to new ideas we never even would’ve thought of. He educates us and expands our minds! He also shows us the importance of complex thinking which is exceedingly rare in today’s world. But is Daniel’s genius to continue to go unrecognized? Is he like Vincent Van Gogh, to never have his work recognized until long after he is gone? We can’t allow such a thing to happen! We must give Daniel the opportunity to have his work given fair consideration just like anyone else. Just because Daniel isn’t a big name like Steven Pinker, Jonathan Haidt, Malcolm Gladwell, Rutger Bregman, Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, or Yuval Noah Harari doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be recognized for how truly profound it is! Daniel’s family in particular needs us. He is the breadwinner of the family and this is their sole means of support! We cannot let Daniel down! We can’t let Daniel become another Van Gogh!

Western civilization and the Jewish people need a mind like Daniel’s now more than ever! His ideas are for the world! Guerre and Shalom takes no prisoners nor pulls any punches. Daniel goes after everybody. The Democrats and the Republicans, Labour and the Tories, the far-left and the far-right, Palestinian leadership and the current Israeli government alike. He doesn’t play any favorites, he criticizes everybody and that is almost unheard of these days in this political polarized and tribalistic world we live in today. Guerre and Shalom explores the nuances of topics and does not engage in simplistic answers or arguments on any subject! I will give some examples of the Guerre and Shalom way of using nuanced thinking below. Okay, here are some examples from history. Let’s say I lived in the United States back in the 1980s. I would welcome Ronald Reagan into office in 1981 and vote to re-elect him in 1984, support Reaganomics and his tax cuts, support the invasion of Grenada in 1983, applaud his tough stand and rhetoric on Communism, support him sending massive quantities of aid to the Mujahideen in Afghanistan to fight the Soviet invasion, support the military buildup of the 1980s, appreciate him restoring America and reviving patriotism, back him in assisting the Contras in Nicaragua in fighting the Sandinistas, support William Rehnquist, Antonin Scalia and Robert Bork’s nominations to the Supreme Court, support his partnership with Mikhail Gorbachev and the signing of the INF Treaty, cheer his speech calling for Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall, and vote for Vice President George H.W. Bush in 1988. However, I would also have sharply criticized Reagan for repealing the Mental Health Systems Act, trying to shut down the Department of Education, getting rid of the Fairness Doctrine, the Iran-Contra Scandal, and his slowness to address the AIDS Crisis, fought for gay rights, to protect labor unions, civil rights laws and affirmative action, defend a woman’s right to choose and funding for family planning, against the Apartheid regime in South Africa, and to de-escalate the Cold War and reduce our nuclear stockpile, advocate for gays and lesbians to be welcome in the Christian Church, oppose federal budget cuts to the social safety net such as social welfare programs, Medicaid, food stamps, and public housing, and would back clean air and water regulations and to prevent the exploitation of public lands by federal agencies.

Let’s say I lived in French Indochina. I would strongly denounce atrocities, injustices and exploitation of the Vietnamese people by the French, call out racial discrimination against the Vietnamese by the French, seek to soften French rule, replace unpopular governors, amnesty and release political prisoners, a degree of self-autonomy for Vietnam, and eventual Vietnamese independence. However, I would also support French colonial rule in Vietnam remaining in place, tout the benefits of French colonialism for the Vietnamese people, oppose Ho Chi Minh and the Viet Minh, lobby the United States to send aid to the French in their war with the Viet Minh, tout the service of French Resistance fighters who rescued American pilots and fought the Japanese in Vietnam, fight for gradual reforms rather than immediate independence, advocate for ruling with local elites, preserving indigenous cultures and social structures and expanding French schools in Indochina rather than carrying out decolonization, and advocate for the United States to make massive arms shipments to the French forces in Indochina.

Last example, let’s say I’m living in the United States during the Gilded Age. I would vote for Republican candidates Rutherford B. Hayes, James A. Garfield, James G. Blaine, Benjamin Harrison, and William McKinley, support civil and voting rights for African Americans, support civil rights and American citizenship for Native Americans, oppose the Chinese Exclusion Act, welcome the millions of immigrants coming to America through Ellis Island, support labor unions and worker’s rights, support civil service reform, support the Sherman Antitrust Act and the creation of the Interstate Commerce Commission, denounce lynching and the Jim Crow laws, fight for a more equitable distribution of wealth, fight discrimination against Irish, Italian and Jewish Americans, denounce the Wounded Knee Massacre and fight for justice and compensation for the victims, oppose the annexation of Hawaii, combat anti-Catholic sentiment, and fight against corruption in American politics. However, at the same time I would also cheer the end of Republican Reconstruction in the South and the return of Southern state governments to local rule, admire the Robber Barons and the empires they built, support high tariffs, the Gold Standard and pro-business policies, support lassiez-faire capitalism, support U.S. imperial expansion, and be all for declaring war on Spain in 1898.

You simply must join the Guerre and Shalom audience today! This is a publication for sane liberals in a world that has gone insane! Daniel’s work is like a cool drink of water being given to a man dying of thirst in the desert! It is an antidote to the drek you typical find in the press or on social media! Buy Daniel’s books Exodus: The Quest for Freedom and Pax Arabica today! They are both very profound works and well worth the price of admission! Guerre and Shalom needs you, are you willing to step up to the plate? Are you willing to keep Van Gogh from going unrecognized and destitute in his life time? Daniel is just what our world needs during these tumultuous times. A sane, rational, thoughtful, and complex thinker with no ideological ax to grind and no political or racial team to play for. Just a fearless independent intellectual who calls it as he sees it and stands up for the western tradition of seeking truth, beauty and wisdom! We can’t let a treasure like Guerre and Shalom pass us by like two ships in the night!
