INDICTMENT 8: Ivory Towers: Sold

We are faced with a momentous decision and a choice no parent should have to make: To send or not to send? University or bust? It used to be a no-brainer; but today no longer. Decision time has come. When they sought Truth, we flocked. When they enlightened, we swooned. But today no longer. Decision time has come. Education is the greatest good of any society: Knowledge brings understanding, Understanding - analysis. Analysis - synthesis. Synthesis - innovation. Without our teachers we are lost, Egyptian farmers amidst the horrors of darkness. Civilisation on the brink. But teachers don’t impose, they guide; Using the wisdom of the ages to light the way, Using Newton’s shoulders to peer beyond. They discover, not declare; Seeing ignorance as the shield against hubris; Seeing disproof as the angel of Truth. The University is veritas, not as destination, but as quest. The Golden Fleece just out of reach. The Promised Land before the Prophet’s eyes. It’s there, but beyond. It’s coming, but wait! That’s a dream, a past preserved in nostalgia. The Professor of today declares the truth (having denied its existence). They know what’s right, they know who’s oppressed. And you’re bound to agree. After all, you’ve paid them thousands. Where indoctrination is King and Truth is subordinate, There is no university. Only gulag, Re-education camp for the Middle Class. Where Qatar funds, Ikwan insinuates and brothers rise. In protest, they impose, In horror, they destroy: Innovation, synthesis, understanding, knowledge, All sense and meaning, Truth upon the pyre. Civilisation inverted in a whirlwind of language inversion. And those “learned” professors: Too dumb to realise or too eager to help? Who knows? Either way we are done For red and green defies analysis, Falsification powerless, Popper reeling traumatically against the ravages of its power. The university, What does it invent but ‘genocide’? Who does it harm but our children? We pay them to destroy. We pay them handomely. And now we must choose: Truth or Marx? Decency or ISIS? Life Or a world of nightmares. No longer do they live in Ivory Towers, Elephant hunting long proscribed. Today they live in Doha. May they come back home.
