I was an American child in the 70’s and never watched Dr.Who. It is fascinating how you have followed the progression of progressives(😊) using this series.

Sorry, but to an American like me, the idea that leftist fanatics are in charge is ludicrous.

Hi they're obviously not in charge overall, but they are in charge of culture and the university. They always have been. But whereas in the 70s they were the definite good guys, today they - like MAGA right - are bad actors, unnuanced and unable to see shades of grey. This article shows what the liberal left were at their best and can be again.

Uni culture is definitely out of hand. But they aren’t the ones deporting people to Salvadoran prisons, so they don’t really scare me. Plus, I think a lot of the colleges were genuinely shocked at how far things had gone, and are rethinking things. Having large numbers of Jewish donors does concentrate their minds.😉

Yes. Hopefully those donors put some pressure on.

Agreed!

I am still a Tom Baker fan.

He's great of course...Genesis of the Daleks, Seeds of Doom, Pyramids of Mars etc. But the Jon Pertwee era has left an indelible mark on my moral outlook as evidenced in Guerre and Shalom.

This is really interesting. I really like how you parsed these shows. I actually had never thought of Dr Who in this way. I will tell you that I have stopped watching it these past few years. It went from silly, scifi fun to preachy, condescending and oh so not subtle at all, like everything the far left does.

So glad you liked the piece and I agree with you about the modern seasons. The Jon Pertwee era was very important in my moral outlook and I treasure its high values steeped in nuance with the respect it deserves.
